At its 52nd annual meeting, the Canadian Society for the Study of Names will feature approximately 30 onomasticians and toponymists from a variety of disciplines discussing issues pertaining to names and naming phenomena, thereby contributing to the congress theme, "Gathering Diversities." The study of names reveals examples of linguistic and social inventiveness in action, on historical, geographical, political or market concerns. Furthermore, the symbolic order to which names belong and their power to affect people make them fascinating, complex, and inexhaustible objects of study. The congress once again offers the opportunity to invite you cordially to join us on the quest for onomastic solutions for the future.

Any scientific or social fields or phenomena using formal naming and nomenclature; Official, historical, vernacular, critical toponymy, (re)naming trends and conflicts; Trade marks, identity markers; Names coined in culture, literature, fiction.
