Education Building - ED 228
Indigenizing teaching is quickly becoming a mainstream practice. For many, navigating this unfamiliar terrain requires new and sometimes uncomfortable ways of thinking. How does one get Indigenization “right”? How do we avoid tokenism or a broad sweeping gesture of branding? This workshop will look at what does and does not work when trying to authentically appreciate, understand and begin to apply Indigenous approaches in education.
Speakers: Kathryn Ricketts, Assistant Professor, Arts Education, Faculty of Education, University of Regina; Emily Grafton, Executive Lead, Indigenization, University of Regina; Brenda Dubois, Kukom, Aboriginal Student Centre, University of Regina
