Research Innovation - RI 101.6 Atrium
This event will demonstrate the diverse ways in which international crisis situations impact the lives of local communities. This activity will include a panel discussion showcasing the partnership between the Faculty and community partners. This partnership involved hosting summer camps for Syrian refugee children in 2016 and in 2017, developed in response to the sudden arrival of large numbers of Syrian refugee families. Panel members will discuss the questions: What motivated you to be part of this project? What were the lessons? Surprises? The panel will be followed by a town hall forum in which attendees will discuss key issues facing refugee families. Participants will be encouraged to showcase (visual presentations) and discuss other community projects and work with refugee families. Finally, participants will explore the role of universities in responding to international crisis.
